Alabama Divorce StatisticsDivorce Papers > Divorce Statistics > Alabama Divorce Statistics According to a report released by the U.S. Census Bureau, the statistics of divorce is different in different parts of the nation, with the Southern part of it having a higher rate of divorce than the average statistics revealed all across the country. While the national rate of divorce was 9.2 for men and 9.7 for women, the southern part of it had a divorce statistics that showed the percentage as 10.2 for men and 11.1 for women. In contrast, the Northeast had recorded the lowest statistics of divorce with 7.2 for men and 7.5 for women. These statistics have been taken from the report Marital Events of Americans, 2009, which discusses about the prospects of divorce, marriage as well as the state of widows in the United States of America. It further discusses relevant characteristics of the individuals who are going through some event in their marriage. These statistics published on the basis of the report was the very first one to discuss these issues among the American citizens aged from 15 years and above, and this report was further taken from the American Community Survey (ACS) for the year 2009. The reason for the increase in the rate of divorces in the South has been attributed to the higher number of marriages taking place in the region as compared to the lower number of marriages in the Northeast as a result of which the number of divorces occurring in the region are also lesser. The Alabama Divorce Statistics show a percentage, which is higher than the average national percentage of divorces occurring in the country. This can be well understood from the fact that as said before the states of the South have recorded a divorce statistics higher than the national average and Alabama located in the South is no exception. The data has been arranged in the descending number of years.
The above statistics reveal that there is no fixed trend that has been seen in the decrease or the increase in the number of divorces, with a few of the years having seen more number of the occurrence of divorces as compared to the other years. Now, the difference in the statistics is not merely observed in the years, but also in the counties of the state of Alabama. This table would give us a better idea of this. The counties have been laid down in the descending number of divorces.
In the year 2007, according to the reports of the United States Department of Public Health, the percentage of divorce in Alabama was higher by 37 percent than the average national rate. According to a latest article published in a leading newspaper, the Alabama churches are looking after this peril by conducting programs to save the members of their communities from this epidemic called divorce. Encouraged by this initiative, many communities on the other hand are holding programs to make sure that the bonds between the married couples are strengthened even further with the passage of time so as to prevent the risk of taking divorce.
