People unite together through the institution of a marriage to spend the rest of their lives together, sharing all their joys as well as sorrows with their soul mate, and to have a hand to hold on in times of despair and a shoulder to lean on to in times of trouble. They expect and hope that everything will go off well, and they will live in the same house under the same roof, happily ever after, surmounting all the pains of life, through thick and thin in the company of one another. Couples make their promises and exchange their vows with one another at the altar of a marriage, not knowing that one day the road may not be that smooth to travel on, and that things might break off between them, and they will have to call it quits. Little does one expect that the other person might turn out to be non compromising at all, or for that matter even they might not feel like compromising with their dearest individual, of course not with the intention to hurt them. But at times the hand of fate has its own role to play and before our own eyes we see the partners parting ways, not paying heed to what the consequences might be for the others involved thorough their union, especially the innocent, poor children who simply cannot bear through the pain of witnessing the two dearest people in their lives staying away from one another. To the children, it is a scar which they retain for the rest of their lives, and they grow up with many troubles, some of them finding it very hard to mingle with other people of the opposite gender at whom they look with distrust. A few of these children also go through their own cases of divorce later on in their lives, as a continuation to the trend of the family. But, our busy, modern lives have made it simply impossible for us to ponder upon all these factors with the result that without thinking much, the couples file for a divorce and are willing to not compromise with the other on any ground. This is also to be blamed partially for the independent frame of mind that the women of today have adopted, which makes her feel that there is nothing impossible that she cannot do, and for which she has to rely entirely on the man in her life. This is seen by a few of the social thinkers as the development of a dangerous trend, and something which has in one way or the other contributed to the growth in the statistics of divorce cases throughout the globe. The United States of America, as any other developed, modern country of the world seems to lead the race in this and Illinois, a state in North America, is no exception to this as has been aptly proved by the Illinois Divorce Statistics, which shows an increasing divorce statistics.
